Working Together
by Celene Melenciano

Good morning boys and girls Happy Sabbath. I hope you guys are having a great week. I know most of you, if not all of you are already on vacation, and I hope you’re enjoying it, whether you’re staying home or going out, you know somewhere else for vacation. I hope you guys are having a great time.

You know, today’s story is about thinking together, doing things together. It’s a story about Josh and Timothy, Josh and Timothy were thinking, what can we do? How do we earn enough money to pay for mom and dad’s Christmas gift. Christmas was coming in, they had decided they wanted to buy mom and dad a camera for Christmas. So they had actually put the camera something like this one on a layaway plan at the store. This layaway plan is the one where you go to the store, you choose what you want, and the store will put it on hold for you. And you come every week and you give a payment until you finish paying that off. And then you can take it home. So the boys when they first made their plan, they figured you know what, we’re going to have this paid off by Christmas, we’ll have enough time to wrap it and put it under the tree. But as time got closer and closer, you know it got near Christmas, they realized we don’t have enough money to pay this off before Christmas. So what do we do? They kept thinking what can we do to earn money? We how do we earn more money? You know our allowances it gonna pay for it? What do we do?

At that moment when they were thinking their mom called them out? Josh, Timothy, come help me Come on, bring the groceries in. They were going to grandma’s house. They were going to help Grandma by bringing in groceries. And by doing some chores around her house. Grandma had fallen and her broken her legs. So she was in recovery. And she couldn’t really move. So mom and Josh and Timothy were doing the stuff for her while she recuperating. And as they were putting stuff in for grandma, grandma said, I really appreciate your help boys, thank you so much for bringing in the groceries and helping me with chores. You know, I have a few friends that could really use some help, too.

And it was like a little light bulb went out in their heads decided that’s it. If we can help grandma’s friends, maybe we can earn a little bit of money, and just enough to pay for the camera for mom and dad for Christmas. So yes, Grandma, Grandma, do you mind if we talk to your friends? We’re trying to you know, pay off a Christmas gift from mom and dad. And Grandma said yes, of course. Let me talk to my friends and let me give you their phone number so that you guys can talk to them and get that all done.

You know, the Bible tells us that by thinking together, by doing things together, maybe two people three people you know in a group friends, family, we are a lot better than one person by themselves. Let me read a verse to you to see versus okay. It’s an Ecclesiastes 4. And chapter 4, verse 9, Two are better than one because they have a good return for their work. If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up. Also, if to lie down together, they will keep warm. How can one keep warm alone, though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves, a cord of three strands is not quickly broken. So God is letting us know that working with others, two, maybe three people maybe even four, you know or more. We work a lot better. We make our team strong. One helps one. Think you know sometimes when I can think of something my husband helps me think or maybe my my children helped me thing, or maybe a friend or somebody at work when I can think of something so two heads think better than one. The same if something happens like like the Bible says if one falls down the other one can pick them up. So having help is a good thing. And God tells us that we should be helpful to others. And as well as you know, accept help from others work together to get more things done. Maybe better things done, of course better things done when we work together. So just remember boys and girls, as you’re going around Communication and doing stuff, you know, help mom and dad at home with chores and stuff. Help your brother and sister with their homework if they can’t figure something out, and you know what somebody will help you out to, and then things will be a lot easier and a lot better.

So let’s go ahead and bow our heads and it’s have a word of prayer. Dear Heavenly Father, thank you so much, because you have given us, each other, our friends, our families, to help us do things together so that they may be better and stronger. Thank you for giving us the strength to be there for each other, and for loving us so much that you gave us, those around us to help us and to join us and doing things. The greater things together. Please be with these boys and girls as they continue their vacation and continue to bless them and protect them. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

Have a great rest of your vacation boys and girls. We’ll see you next time.
