Time Flies, Time Matters
by Chris Famisaran

Good morning, kids, I hope and pray you are well, I’ve got a good story for you all.

So I wanted to share a couple of things that I have that are important to me. The first thing is this Relic watch, it’s important to me because my wife, Leisa, you all know her. She gave this watch to me, I think for our second or third Christmas together. And I’ve kept this watch over many years. And it doesn’t even work right now I need to replace the battery. But it’s important to me, because she gave it to me has a lot of sentimental value.

I have another watch that I’ve become fond of, especially over the last couple of years is this Garmin Instinct. I use this watch, I bought it primarily to use it for when I workout. So it can record all of my workouts, whether I’m riding or running or even lifting weights, and it actually has a heart rate monitor in it. So it can tell me if my heart rate is too high. And so if I need to, I can bring it down. So I don’t hurt myself long term. And with a lot of workouts, a lot of bike rides, we spent a lot of time together, and some challenging, challenging workouts that I’ve done over the years. And so I have this bond with this watch that I don’t have with others, it’s different. But also I use it regularly because I you know, I don’t want to be late for appointments. For instance, I’ve got to leave in about 10 minutes to get to my next appointment. And I don’t want to be late, I want to make sure that I leave on time. And just in case there’s traffic, I want to make sure I have that little bit of cushion to be able to make sure that I get there on time.

So when it comes to time, well, Jeremiah 29:11 says, For I know the plans I have for you declares the LORD plans to prosper you and not to harm you plans to give you a hope in the future. God has a wonderful future for you all. But it’s also important that we spend our time wisely for that future that God has given us. In fact, there’s a quote that says “The bad news is time flies, the good news is you’re the pilot.” So you have the ability to decide how you spend your time. And when it says Time flies, that’s it’s true, you know, I’ve been around the had taken a couple of trips around the sun. And it you know, time goes by much faster than we think. And so I don’t take for granted. For instance, when I’m able to spend time with my siblings, even though we talk or text actually, almost every day, if not every other day. There’s nothing like actually spending time together and having a meal or seeing their kids. That’s important to me. It’s important as well for me to be able to spend time with my mom and dad. And you know, I’m fortunate I have two grandmas left. But my grandparents have both passed away. I’m sorry, my grandpa’s. And you know, one Grandpa, I only got to meet him three times. And I wish that I had been able to spend time get to know him even more because he had a fascinating story.

Now we’re all responsible with time time, because we got to get up early to make sure we get to school on time. Or when we get home. Maybe you’ve been assigned a book report, or maybe you got some math homework. Maybe you don’t like that. Or maybe you do you do love homework. Cool. But make sure you get that homework done in a time that you can get it in on time. Maybe your mom or dad asks you, Hey, can you go take the trash out? Or can you weed the garden, maybe mow the lawn? Don’t wait. Do it quickly so that you have more time in the future to either play with your friends. Or you just you don’t have to worry about it. If we keep putting stuff off, it’s gonna build and build and build and maybe you guys have a mountain of things you have to get done and then you don’t have enough time to get it done. And the final thing that I will say with time is just don’t take take it for granted. You know, again, I wish I’d been able to spend more time with my grandpa, you know, I graduated from high school and then I realized, okay, I need to go to college, maybe some of you are just not gonna go to college right away, but you’re gonna get a job. And you’re not going to be able to spend as much time as you would like. So take time now to spend it to honor and respect and love your parents. When they ask you to do something, get it done quickly, but also especially the time that you have with them now. Alright. So time matters.

Let’s pray. Father in heaven, Lord, I just want to take a moment. I want to pray for each child here. And also who’s watching this online. Bless leading guide them be with their families and be with their especially mum and dads as a continued raise them for those who are looking out and caring for them watching over them. Lord, give them wisdom and guidance and strength and courage but also as these children continue to grow, Lord, help them to be faithful disciples for you, to gain wisdom, have strong bodies, and to Lord be able to do the things that they need to get done. And maybe spend their time wisely. Thank you for everything, Lord, in Jesus name, amen.

Take care kids.
