Taking Care of God’s Creation
Susanna Martinez
Boys and girls, it’s my opportunity once again to bring you the story this morning.
Now don’t know if you celebrated Earth Day in your school. I know we did at my school. April 22nd is called Earth Day. And on this day, we read stories and we do projects on what we can do to take care of our Earth. In the Bible, Genesis 1:1, it says, God created the heavens and the earth. So God did everything he could to make sure he left us a good home. He made sure everything was ready for us before he placed humans here on this earth.
One of the things we know we all love to see outside are beautiful flowers. Now in the springtime we get to see lots of beautiful flowers. Something else we get to see, a lot of fruit trees. get to see a lot of insects outside too because the flowers are blooming. We get to see a lot of pollinating insects like bees that are very important for us to make sure that we have fruit.
Now, what are some things we can do regardless if we’re young or old to take care of our earth? I know one thing I do every day is I take my water bottle with me. I don’t need to be using those plastic bottles, they create a lot of waste. Something else we can do is use cloth towels to clean around our house. So we use less paper towels that go into the trash. I can wash this and use it over and over, which leads me to the one that we can all do when we go to the grocery store, we get plastic bags. Instead, we should take our own bags. This way we create less waste and plastic. It’s very harmful. We should try to make good choices when we get paper plates. When we’re out and about, paper plates are better than styrofoam plates.
I think God created this beautiful earth and it’s our job to take care of it. Meanwhile, we’re here. because we all know this is not where we’re meant to be. God is creating a much better and more, a much more beautiful place. I can’t imagine what type of flowers we’ll see, what type of fruits and veggies we’ll be eating in heaven. So I’m going to do my best to make sure I take care of the earth for the time that I’m here so that it is a better place, not just for me. For all my nephews and nieces, we’re gonna be growing up. But we all know that this is not our home. This is just temporary until God comes back to take us home. I do invite you boys and girls to help me take care of our earth so that we can do something good for it. Meanwhile, we wait for Jesus to take us home.
Let’s bow our heads, boys and girls. Dear Heavenly Father, We thank you for the earth you left behind for us. Thank you for all the beautiful things you left in it so that we can admire and see how much you love us. Help us to take care of it for the time we have here. Help us to remember that you will come and take us home to the most beautiful place we’ve ever seen. Keep us safe, always protect us, for we pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
Bye boys and girls, see you next time.
