Spiritual Gifts
by Lilia Hernandez

Good morning boys and girls and Happy Sabbath. Let us bow our heads for prayer. Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You, Father God for the Sabbath day, we thank you for the children that are here. And we ask You, Lord, for Your Holy Spirit to be with us to help us understand your message. We ask this in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, amen.

All right, boys and girls. So today we’re going to be looking at the spiritual gifts. briefly talking about the spiritual gifts, I just want you to understand and know that God has special gifts that He gives His people. And each gift is different. And it’s necessary that each one of us has a different gift, because we need to then come together as one. And we need to be here to help the church grow and help each other girl. And we do that because we all have a different gift. So the gifts are all equal in the eyes of God, but they’re necessary and different, here to help each other. So some gifts might be little, some gifts might be bigger, in a different color, some gifts might be a little more narrow, longer. But remember that at the end of the day, when we come together, for coming together for the honor and glory of God, you bring your gift, I bring my gift. Mom brings her gift, and we all come together, and we worship God by using these gifts for his Honor for his glory, and to build our church and bring others to know Jesus.

So today, we’re going to be looking at the gift of prophecy. And you might be asking yourself, what is the gift of prophecy? You might even be asking yourself, what are the gifts? And what is my gift? Those are all really great questions. So the Bible talks about the different gifts, there are about 15 gifts, that God has the gift of leadership, the gift of teaching, the gifts of prophecy, and other gifts. So today we’re going to look at the gift of prophecy. And I’m would like to read the chapter on numbers. The Book of Numbers, chapter 12, verse six, and it says this, here now my words, if there is a prophet among you, I the Lord, make myself known to him in a vision, so he has a vision. I speak to him in a dream. So there are two ways that God will speak to a prophet First, God chooses a prophet, then God speaks to the prophet, and he can speak to the Prophet through a vision, or through a dream. So let’s take a look at a couple of prophets in the Bible. One of the prophets that we have that we can read about in our Bible is Moses, Moses was called by God to do some really great work that Israel Israelites had gone to Egypt, they were now there, and they were slaves. And God wanted the Israelites to be saved. So he asked Moses, to go to Egypt, and bring out the Israelites and bring them to the promised land. And the Promised Land is that the land where you and I want to be because there will live with and dwell with God.

So one day, Moses was out tending the sheep, taking care of his sheep, when suddenly he sees a bush. And it looks like it’s on fire, this bright, bright light, but it’s not really burning, and Moses looks and then he hears a voice. And God tells Moses, go to Egypt, save the Israelites and bring them back to the promised land. I will be with you. I will help you. Moses knew this was a tough job. But he trusted God. And so he went, and when he caught he found himself in trouble. God gave Moses the power To save the Israelites, Moses had the power to open up the Red Sea. The Israelites were coming, they were being chased. And they had to escape. And Moses through the power of God was able to open up the seat, and the Israelites were able to get across and be saved.

We also have another prophet, Jonah, you probably know Jonah and the whale. Jonah was also called to be a prophet. Jonah was chosen by God, because Jonah would hear God’s voice. Jonah was always available for God. But sometimes Jonah are in this one time at least Jonathan did not want to listen and be obedient to God. God had told Jonah to go to Nineveh and preach in Nineveh. But Jonah knew the people in Nineveh , and he knew that they were not nice. So Jonah didn’t want to go. And Jonah instead of being obedient, he tried to run away, he ran one way and ran another and God waited, and waited patiently for Jonah. Just kind of like what you what happens at your house, when Mom tells you to take out the trash. Take out the trash, tells you a third time, take out the trash, and you’re not listening, and you’re not being obedient. Then mom says enough. And mom says okay, now I want you to give me your phone, give me your your computer and go sit over there and sit on the sofa and stay there and you’re gonna sit there for 10-15 minutes. And I want you to think about what you’re doing. You’re not listening, you’re not being obedient. Well, God did the same thing with Jonah. God had the whale, swallow Jonah, and Jonah was there for three nights. And during that time, I’m sure Jonah was thinking about what God was asking him to do, and how he was not being obedient. Then on the third day, Jonah came out. And guess what Jonah did. Jonah went to Nineveh just as God had told them to do. And he went there and he preached and he told the people repent, repent, change your ways, stop lying, stop hurting people stopping me go and ask God for forgiveness. And many people that were there listening to Jonah obeyed Jonah and listen, and went to God and ask God for forgiveness. And they change their ways and repented.

Today, we have another prophet that God has given us as Adventists. And this is Ellen White, Ellen White had some dreams. And God gave her a message. And in her message. She then wrote these books, took the message and wrote these books and has left lots and lots of books for us to read, to help us be better disciples of Jesus, to help us understand. So sometimes when we’re reading our Bible, and it gets really hard, and there’s things that we don’t understand, we can go to one of her books, where she can help us better understand how to live our life closer to Jesus, how to get closer to God, and how to be obedient. Here she she has written a book called Steps to Christ. Steps to Christ is a really great book. And that book brings you closer to Jesus. And then she has a Desire of Ages and many other books that she has written. So boys and girls, God has a gift for you, and a gift for me. We may not know what our gift will look like and what our gift is. But if we pray, and we ask God, maybe the gift of prophecy, maybe that might be one of the gifts that you might have.

So remember boys and girls, Jesus loves you. And Jesus loves everyone, and He wants everyone to be saved. So let us read our Bible All and if you can read our Bible, you can read it with mom and dad. But we need to be reading our Bible every day. Learn from the prophets and give our heart to Jesus. Be obedient to Jesus. And always remember that God loves you.

Let us bow our heads, Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You, Father God for this message that you have given us of the gifts, the spiritual gifts that you have for each and every one of us. Help us Lord to understand and know that there is a special gift for us. And it may be the gift of prophecy, where you want us to get up and go and take your message to others. So give us the courage and understanding father and help us know what our gift is. Watch over the parents and all the children here Lord, keep them safe and made it grow in love and your love. Lord, we ask this in the name of Your Son Jesus Christ, amen.
