Remain in Jesus
by Ethan Morales-Vierna
Morning boys and girls, happy Sabbath. Welcome to Downey Church. It is time for our children’s story.
So we’re gonna open up our Bible. A lot of brown today. Brown sweater, Bible, brown piano. It’s fine, you guys can still see me though.
We’re gonna open our Bible today to John 15, 5, where it says, I’m the vine and you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit. But apart from me, you can do nothing.
So to illustrate that, and girls, we’re gonna use a flashlight. This one’s a Husky brand, very good brand. So, you know, what do we use a flashlight for? We use it to illuminate our path, right? So we’re gonna pretend that we are this flashlight.
Now, the Bible says, when we remain in God, he will remain in us. So. In other words, we get a lot of our life, not just every breath that we take, but a lot of the way that we conduct ourselves, the way we love, the way we forgive, the way we reflect Christ to others. So if we try to turn on this flashlight, you can see it’s broken, right? Pressing the button, nothing’s happening. So why is that? Well, at this point in our lives, boys and girls, maybe we’re not connected to God, we’re not close to God.
So it’s missing one crucial aspect, that being power. So when we open this guy up, we can see there’s nothing. So that’s why we take these, the batteries, Energizer, another really good brand, we’ll pop that in, we’ll screw this on. And once that’s all done, we can see. I’m just blinding you guys, whoops. Hopefully I didn’t blind anyone.
But we can see that it starts working, that we can actually start reflecting and illuminating paths. And that’s exactly how it is with our relationship, and girls. We have to constantly pray, we have to read our Bible, and we just have to spend time with God so that he can come into us, give us the power to reflect and shine his love for others. And if we do that, boys and girls, we will be illuminated. All right, so don’t forget. Pray, read your Bible, and we’ll conclude with prayer.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you God so much for these boys and girls, Lord. I ask that you continue to be with them. Keep them safe, keep them healthy. I also ask that you be with the parents of their children, Lord. May you continue to point the hearts of the family towards you, Lord, so that ultimately the children’s heart may be pointed towards you, Lord. Please forgive us of our sins. May we have a wonderful Sabbath afternoon, and we thank you, Lord, for everything. We ask all these things in your name. Amen.
All right boys and girls, we’ll see you next time.
