Hi boys  and girls, it’s my opportunity once again to bring you the story this morning. Now know we’ve been counting down the days. It’s the end of May. I think some of you are done in the first week of June, but we’re counting down in my class. We have one more week left.

This morning I have a story that talks about being human because God created us as human beings. The title is, I am human. Here’s the title page.  I am human, a book of empathy.  I was born a miracle,  one of billions, but  unique.  I am human.  I am always learning. I’m finding my way and choosing my path on this incredible journey. I have big dreams.  I see possibility. I have endless curiosity. I make discoveries.  I have a feeling of wonder. I am amazed by nature.  I have a playful side. I find joy in friendship.  I am human. But  being human means I am not perfect. I make mistakes. I can hurt others with my words,  my actions, and even my silence. I can be hurt too.  I can be fearful of things I don’t yet  understand and things I’m timid to try something new.  I have a  heavy heart  when it feels  sad.  I am human. But then I  remind myself that because I am human,  I can make choices. I can move forward. A poor choice can become a better choice with thoughtfulness.  A bad day can become a great day with kindness. I can act with compassion and lend a helping hand. I can treat others with equality  and be fair. I can choose not to fight, but instead to listen and find calming ground. I can say, I’m sorry and ask for forgiveness.  I am human.  One of billions,  but  unique. I am not alone. I am connected to my friends, my family, to the world. We are, we all are, all human together.

Wow, boys and girls. Did you get some ideas on what we can do to make things better? We are human and sometimes we feel sad,  mad, and upset, but we can remember that Jesus told us that it’s okay to feel human, to feel those emotions, but we can make choices just like the book said. We can make better choices to not do bad things again because we do make mistakes, but that’s  part of being human.

Okay, boys and girls,  I will invite you to try to make good choices so that you can be a better human,  one that reflects Jesus’ character.

Okay, let’s bow our heads, boys and girls. Dear Heavenly Father, we would like to thank you once again for this opportunity you’ve given us to come to church, to hear what it is to be human and help us, dear Lord, to make better choices.  Help us to be able to say I’m sorry to our friends when we make a mistake and our parents too. Keep us safe and always protect us for we pray in your name.  Amen.

Bye boys and girls.
