Good morning boys and girls. Do you like water?

When I was about, I think I was 10 or 12 years old, my best friend at the time, Steven, asked if I wanted to go on a family camping trip with him and his family to Lake Havasu. Now, if you don’t know where Lake Havasu is, it’s on the border of California and Arizona, and it’s the desert, and it’s really hot. But we had a really great time. I learned how to kneeboard, I went inner tubing, I think I rode a jet ski, and we went cliff jumping. It was really fun. We swam in the water, we saw lots of fish, and we just had a great time.

Now I remember coming back Sunday night, I stayed at his place because we got back really, really late. And I remember waking up in the middle of the night just like super, super thirsty. I was so thirsty, I got up, I was kind of dizzy, I think I maybe had a little bit of a headache. And I just went to the bathroom and I turned the water on in the sink and I just drank water. And I drank and I drank and I drank lots of water because I was so thirsty. Needless to say, I was a bit dehydrated.

Maybe those of you who are wondering what is dehydration? It’s when you haven’t drunk a lot of water and you need it. You know, when we were out in the desert, it was probably over at least 100 degrees and there was no AC. We were sleeping in tents. So. Needless to say. I had gotten dangerously dehydrated. Well, I drank the water. I felt better, but I still felt a little nauseous, but drinking water really saved me because otherwise I could have gotten really, really sick.

Now, in the Bible, in the Gospel of John, Chapter four, Jesus meets a woman at a well. And during that time, you know, you didn’t just have sinks with faucets or refrigerators where you could just get water. You had to go and take a bucket, lower it into this well that they had dug up and pull it up. And Jesus asks for a drink of water. And in fact, as they continue to talk, he says he offers living water, water that never runs out. Water that you don’t have to take a bucket to put in a well and bring back up, or even having to go to the sink. Living water that never stops.

And what’s this living water? It’s God’s love, God’s love for you, his love. His grace that never ends. So, boys and girls, anytime you go to the sink, you get some water or even a water bottle, even though you have this water, okay? I could drink it. And eventually it runs out. But God’s love, it never, never runs out. Jesus’ love for us is so much that we can’t even imagine how much it is. That’s how much He loves you.

So I hope pray that as you drink water every time, remember His love and that it never runs out. God bless you. Let’s pray.

Dear Jesus, Lord, be with each child here. Bless them. Lord, help them to have courage. Give them strength as they continue to grow. Give them wisdom. And Lord, be with their families, their parents, and those their caretakers. Watch over them and bless them. Remind them, Lord, that you love them so much that your love is never ending. In Jesus name, amen.

Thank you, boys and girls.
