On January 12th, we will have our first health seminar after our fellowship luncheon. We will be having the seminars monthly. They will be covering a variety of topics designed to make us healthier. We can improve our health in many ways; physically, financially, and socially, just to name a few.
The title of our first seminar is "Following a Plant-Based Diet, the What, the Why and the How." Our presenter is Brian Blackburn. He is a 23 year vegan with over 15 years of personal and team training, strength coaching, and nutritional counseling experience. Dr. Brian K. Blackburn works with a wide variety of clients from amateur and professional athletes, to individuals suffering from metabolic syndrome, diabetes, and cancer.
Having completed over 14 years of nationally accredited education in culinary studies, education, exercise physiology, and biomedical science, Dr. Blackburn has mastered natural and plant-based approaches to health and wellness.
In addition to working with clients, Dr. Blackburn also continues to research, identify, and publish the best and most effective training techniques, dietary strategies and contemporary therapies for reducing and reversing disease states such as diabetes. He writes and speaks on a wide variety of topics related to overall health and wellness including athletic performance, plant-based diets, metabolism, metabolic pathology, sports specific movement patterns, inflammation, muscle function, strength, conditioning, and plant-based cooking.
